The Russian Investigative Committee will investigate the Ukrainian prankster
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation will evaluate the actions of the Ukrainian prankster Evgeniy Volnov, who spread false information about the number of victims of the fire in a shopping center in Kemerovo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported on the official website of the RF IC.
“A foreign citizen has been identified who disseminated deliberately false information about the number of deaths in the fire in order to destabilize the situation in the region. We are talking about telephone calls to medical institutions and government agencies from a person known on the Internet as prankster Evgeniy Volnov. He spread deliberately false information and misled the relatives of the dead and injured.
An appropriate legal assessment of the actions of this person will be given within the framework of the ongoing criminal case regarding the death of people in a fire,” the statement says.
On March 26, Volnov called the Kemerovo morgue and, introducing himself as an employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, asked if they had enough space for 300 corpses. A video of this audio recording was posted on March 25 on YouTube. Later, the Ukrainian prankster called relatives and classmates of those killed and missing in the fire in Kemerovo. In the conversation, he distorted information about what happened.
As a result, alarming rumors spread throughout the city, which today turned into mass hysteria at a multi-hour rally.
