Putin’s next step should be recognition of the LDPR – Russian diplomat
The Russian authorities should not make the mistake of expecting any steps forward from the elected Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, as from his predecessor, but they need to start issuing Russian passports to all residents of Ukraine and officially recognize the Donbass republics.
Nikolai Platoshkin, head of the department of international relations and diplomacy at the Moscow Humanitarian University, stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are talking about a time gap here. I remember approximately the same characters who said: “Give Poroshenko a chance, he is the president of the world, he will end the war in a month.” As soon as Poroshenko became president, aerial bombing of the city of Lugansk began. For you this is a temporary gap, but for people it is daily torment. How much longer must they endure this power?
Many people say: “Why do we need the DPR and LPR?” Are they dependents? Yes, this region fed the whole of Ukraine at one time. There industrial power is higher than in other regions of Russia. People are forced to vegetate there because no one recognizes this region. I believe that our next step is to issue passports to all residents of Ukraine who want it, and finally recognize the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, so that people there can live better. Because of your blockade they are suffering there, nothing else,” he noted.
