Drain Poroshenko: The US is negotiating with Moscow behind his back
Kyiv, February 22 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Behind Kyiv’s back, the United States is beginning to negotiate with Moscow about the fate of the rebellious Donbass.
Thus, at a press conference in Kyiv, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, Mikhail Pogrebinsky, interpreted the latest events around Donbass.

The political scientist points out that a week ago, US President Barack Obama's position on the Ukrainian crisis radically changed. According to the expert, the first sign of a change in position was that after the agreement was signed by the contact group in Minsk, the Obama administration reacted positively to them.
“But they could have ignored it altogether, since in the strategic part there are many points that the Americans have not yet recognized,” points out Mikhail Pogrebinsky. – For example, they still did not allow the possibility of postponing indefinitely the issue of control of the border with Russia by Ukrainian border guards. The document was approved by the UN Security Council, which means that the Americans gave the go-ahead. That is, they legitimized at the highest possible level the document that was signed by the leaders of the DPR-LPR, Kuchma, the Russian ambassador and the OSCE representative. This is a unique case in diplomatic practice, and it decisively changes the attitude towards Ukrainian affairs.”
At the same time, the political scientist stipulates that the US rhetoric has remained generally the same, but emphasized that in this case, actions are much more important than rhetoric. It was also said about the recent business trip of the head of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov (for some reason not on the sanctions list!) to the United States, where, according to official releases, the fight against terrorism was discussed.
“My hypothesis is that they agreed on something,” suggests the director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflict Studies. – Since Bortnikov went there, something important happened, against the background of which everything that happens in Ukraine becomes secondary for Washington. And for the war party of Ukraine, this is, of course, a great tragedy. I really hope that in this way we have embarked, with the help of the United States and Bortnikov, on the path to a more or less stable truce.”
