Putin's words about Donbass were supported by the actions of the military
The determination of the Ukrainian military to attack Donbass was cooled not only by the “kind word” of Vladimir Putin, who questioned the preservation Ukrainian statehood, but also the “gun” of the Russian military.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov stated this on Antifascist TV.
“There was more than enough information about the raising of forces and artillery, about the preparation of aviation. There was an intention to carry out such an operation. I understand a little about the psychology of our respected Kyiv partners. They always don't care about words, they look at deeds. They carefully monitored the reaction of the Russian armed forces to their movements. Having made sure that there was a reaction, they wisely decided to limit themselves to shelling,” Strelkov said.
According to him, the attempted attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on June 5, which were in the nature of reconnaissance in force, were not developed. The Ukrainian armed forces attacked with only two or three rifle platoons supported by several tanks, while they had a full-fledged battalion tactical group in the second echelon, fully equipped and ready to attack.
“I wouldn’t say that the aggravation has subsided. Not this way. But artillery duels have been going on along the entire front for more than two weeks. The losses of the militia and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have increased sharply compared to the month of May,” Strelkov noted.
