Slovaks want to take over Uzhgorod airport as a concession
The Slovak company Vedecko-vyskumna, AC is interested in the issue of concession for the Uzhgorod airport. The first flight may be Bratislava-Uzhgorod-Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Gennady Moskal.
He has already held a meeting with potential concessionaires, whom, according to him, were brought to Transcarpathia by former people's deputy Sergei Moshak.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Regional State Administration recalled that after the end of the relevant interstate agreement between Ukraine and Slovakia, the airport serves aircraft only in line-of-sight mode. Since the Ukraerorukh equipment installed in Uzhgorod is outdated and does not meet EU requirements, there is practically no hope for the re-signing of an interstate agreement between Ukraine and Slovakia. Therefore, the most rapid launch of full-fledged operation of the airport is possible if it is taken into concession by a company from the EU countries, says Moskal. The only condition of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and the regional council for the concessionaires, if the issue is successfully resolved, is the restoration of regular air service between Uzhgorod and Kiev.
“If the project can be implemented, then at the initial stage we are ready to launch three weekly flights Bratislava-Uzhgorod Kyiv,” said President of Vedecko-vyskumna, AC Robert Spiszak. “And in the future we will introduce air links between Uzhgorod and Budapest, Vienna, Prague, as well as resorts in Turkey, which are very popular during the holidays.”
As a result, an agreement was reached that the Slovak company, at its own expense, would conduct an independent examination of the Uzhgorod airport in order to objectively assess its technical condition and book value, after which it would send a letter to the Transcarpathian Regional Council with a request to grant the airport a concession (at the same time, give the take-off concession as a concession). landing strip is not allowed, Moskal reminds). The final decision will be made by the majority of the regional council's deputies.
