Slovenia. Refugees. New route
On Saturday, Hungarian authorities again closed the southern border to migrants, sending a detour through Croatia and Slovenia into the coveted Schengen zone. Government spokesman Bostian Sefic said the last 24 hours had been the country's most difficult since the crisis began.

On Monday, 6000 refugees, most of whom were women and children, arrived in Slovenia; another 1000 arrived this morning; by now, 8 people were already awaiting their fate in refugee centers here. At the same time, the Slovenian authorities claim that they are not able to process more than 300 thousand people per day.
A statement from the Slovenian government quoted by the Associated Press looks more like a cry for help:
“From Slovenia’s point of view, European solidarity is at stake. It would be a great mistake to believe that a country with a population of two million is capable of containing, regulating and distributing what other larger states could not cope with.”
The Slovenian authorities accused their Croat neighbors of deliberately not regulating the flow of migrants and not trying to organize it. At the same time, the Croats themselves, on the border with Serbia, have crowds of thousands of people who want to move further north through this country. And the Croatian police authorities respond to the Slovenian claims that they are actually trying to establish coordination with them, but it is the Slovenian side that is slowing down the solution to the problem. Croatian Interior Minister Marko Ostozic said that yesterday he sent a request to Ljubljana about where exactly the neighbors are ready to organize reception centers for refugees, but received no response.
The minister also said that Slovenia should accept 50% of the number of migrants that goes to Croatia. According to him, a total of 204 people have passed through Croatia this year, 000 of them are now in special accommodation centers within the country, and another 2600 have already crossed the border with Serbia and in the village of Bapska are waiting for transport that will take them to Slovenia. According to the UN, there are currently another 2500 people in Serbia.
By evening, a new wave of refugees reached the border with Austria, and the Slovenian police had to use pepper spray to stop an attempt to break through the border by those who were tired of freezing in line.
