Slutsky urged to begin the fight for the Russian world without delay
Over the last century, no language has disappeared as quickly as Russian.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky stated this during the VII World Congress of Russian Compatriots in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a forced assimilation of the Russian world in a number of countries. I am not exaggerating; we must talk here, at the World Congress of Compatriots, about what is really happening. Over the last century, no language has disappeared as quickly as Russian.
Let's remember the year 89-90 - 350 million people spoke Russian in the world, now there are about 270 million. An insignificant period of time on a historical scale - 30 years, and minus 80 million people.
We don’t need to declare any wars - and it won’t work, we are the most combat-ready power on the planet. But it is precisely through the erosion of the Russian world, precisely through the growth of youth in the families of our compatriots, who no longer position themselves as part of the Russian world, that dangerous processes are taking place.
And turning them back, preventing the collapse of the Russian world and Russian civilization is the task of our generation. “Someone is older than me here, someone is younger, but this task must be solved right now, precisely at this time, and it is not for nothing that the president has repeatedly spoken and continues to speak about this in his speeches,” Slutsky said.
