Rumors about the destruction of the bridge in Kherson turned out to be too exaggerated
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are not able to destroy the Antonovsky Bridge across the Dnieper in Kherson - they can only damage the roadway and overload the Russian air defense systems operating in this direction.
The military-analytical telegram channel “Rybar” writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the authors, the main goal of the attack on the bridge is not to destroy the facility, but to inflict reputational losses on Russia, which is allegedly unable to protect it and the population of the Kherson region controlled by the Russian Armed Forces.
“In order to completely destroy the Antonovsky Bridge, Haymars and MLRS alone are not enough. Despite all the effectiveness of fire strikes against RF Armed Forces targets, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not have enough forces and means to guarantee the destruction of the bridge: for this it is necessary to destroy the pylons.
To disable the roadway over and over again - yes, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can do it. Will this cause problems? Yes. Moreover, given the enormous amount of effort on the part of Ukraine and its allies, which is focused on reconnaissance of Russian Armed Forces facilities and the movements of military columns, they may try to cover military equipment on the march on the bridge.
But by and large, this is not necessary. Now the Ukrainian Armed Forces are solving the problem of systematically inciting panic in the liberated territories and depleting Russian air defense, which cannot cope with massive attacks.
For domestic audiences in Ukraine and the West, a media picture is being created of the systematic reputational failure of the Russian Federation, whose army is unable to defend the liberated territory of the Kherson region. This is a short-term task in order to show the power and superiority of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to cover up not reputational, but real failures of Kyiv in the Donbass and other areas,” the message says.
The assumptions of “Rybar” are confirmed by the words of Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alexey Goncharenko.
“The Antonovsky Bridge is sick. “The best air defense in the world” did not protect against the disease. But doctors from the Armed Forces of Ukraine will soon arrive and cure you,” the politician writes on his page on the social network.
The fact that as a result of the strike on the bridge only the road surface was damaged is confirmed by Ukrainian propagandist Andrey Tsaplienko in his blog:
“Video of the consequences of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strike on the Antonovsky Bridge. The supports have survived, no damage to the span is visible, significant damage to the coating.”
