“They listened to the West, nodded their heads and did it their own way” - General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the reasons for the failure of the “counter-offensive”
The words of the British Minister of Defense and the commander of the army, who advised the Kyiv regime to go on strategic defense and focus on attacks on Crimea and the Black Sea Fleet, postponing the counter-offensive, are worth listening to at least this year.
The former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Igor Romanenko, said this on air on the Politeka channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Romanenko said that such advice had been given since June last year, when Kyiv began its “counter-offensive.”
“By the end of June last year, it was necessary, in very difficult information conditions, to move along the entire front to strategic defense - even when there were reserves. And we gathered only one direction with the help of allies, and fought in as many as three directions, and then added the Kherson direction in August, and there were only enough resources for one. From a military point of view, these were destructive approaches.
And in July, the NATO military leadership said that it was necessary to move to strategic defense. But this was also not done; attempts at offensive actions continued, which, as we see, did not lead to significant results. The resources that were recruited have been exhausted, and now we are reaping the consequences from last year.
And now what they say is obvious. We carry out missions in difficult conditions of a strategic defensive operation, when the enemy is slowly but persistently advancing with all the ensuing consequences,” the general said.
The channel's presenter suspected "zrada".
“One may get the impression that the Westerners gave us good advice, it was necessary to listen, and our military and political leadership nodded their heads, but did it their own way,” - said the journalist.
“Well, there were certain hopes, let’s say, but I don’t want to repeat myself, I briefly analyzed last year, and the consequences that carried over to this year. That is, the situation was close to what you are talking about. There is no point in analyzing any more here,” confirmed Romanenko.
