Bold statement on Ukrainian TV: Crimea had the right to reunite with Russia
Crimea became part of the Russian Federation on legal grounds. Ukrainian human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya stated this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Berezhnaya, the return of the peninsula to Russia did not become a precedent - before this, states in the world had already been formed and separated according to similar principles.
“If you don’t want to live with your wife and want to go to court and divorce her, then no one can shut you down and say - no, you live with her or we won’t let you out of here.
Tell me how Kosovo was formed, how Czechoslovakia was divided into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, two states, how Germany united, on the basis of what international law? This all happened after the Helsinki agreements, which were signed in 71, and within the framework of Ukrainian and international legislation, people have the right.
No one will force you to live with a woman with whom you have ceased all relations,” Berezhnaya said.
