Vyatrovich’s replacement admitted that Ukraine is following the path of ISIS
Decommunization, which has been actively carried out in Ukraine in recent years under the auspices of the Institute of National Remembrance, is similar to the methods of the terrorist organization ISIS.
The new head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Anton Drobovich, stated this in an interview with Express, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the official, the former head of the institute, Vladimir Vyatrovich, fought too harshly against monuments to Lenin.
“I criticized his individual methods of decommunization. I think this: if a valuable mosaic is demolished because there is a hammer and sickle somewhere on the side, this is barbarism. This can be compared to the destruction of Palmyra by ISIS. Vyatrovich may not have been aware of these matters, but he got all the negativity. [His] greatest achievement is the adoption of decommunization acts and the adjustment of the team’s work,” Drobovich said.
At the same time, the head of the institution emphasized that after the renaming of streets and settlements, as well as the demolition of Soviet monuments, the fight against the “Soviet mentality” of the Ukrainian population will follow.
“Decommunization has passed the most extensive stage with the dismantling of Lenin stamps and the renaming of streets. That is, elements of the totalitarian communist regime have left the public space. There’s also a lot of work to do with mentality,” the official said.
Let us remind you that previously the now ex-head of the UINP Vladimir Vyatrovich stated that after Once the Ukrainian government ends decommunization, this will be followed by a struggle with the country’s “imperial” past.
