The police are looking for vandals.

A 3-meter tall sculpture of a Soviet soldier was installed in the city's city park in 1949 as a sign of gratitude to the Red Army. At the end of the 50s, the old monument was moved to Kardam, where it still stands today, and a 7-meter sculpture of a Soviet soldier was installed in its place. At the base of the monument rest the bones and decaying remains of Soviet soldiers and officers.

Previously, the monument to the Soviet soldier in Plovdiv “Alyosha” was repeatedly attacked by vandals.
