Death of ex-prime minister: Saakashvili’s case will be considered at the International Court of Justice

Another one hangs over the whole string of criminal cases that have been filed today against the ex-president of Georgia and now a prisoner, Mikheil Saakashvili. The International Court of Justice has initiated an investigation into the death of former Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Zhvania.

We are talking about the events of February 3, 2005. Then all of Georgia was shocked by information about the mysterious death of the country’s Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania, who at that time was not only Saakashvili’s closest friend, but also a faithful ally in carrying out the “rose color revolution” in Georgia.

_{The body of the ex-prime minister was discovered in an inconspicuous apartment in Tbilisi. But it later turned out that along with Zhvania, his friend, the governor of the Kvemo Kartli region, Raul Yusupov, was also in this apartment. According to investigators, the culprit of the tragedy was a gas heater, the breakdown of which led to the accumulation of carbon monoxide.}

Tbilisi is a small city, and rumors, of course, supported by various facts, spread like lightning. The fact is that in the apartment where the bodies were found, one of them, Raul Yusupov, did not have shoes, which naturally suggested that he was liquidated and then taken to a rented apartment.

Later on this fact, the meticulous media managed to get the truth from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where they confirmed this information.

It is not clear what exactly led investigators to think about gas poisoning, but later the Tbilisi gas emergency service tried to refute this information.

_{“Technicians checked the heating system in the apartment in which Zurab Zhvania and Raul Yusupov died, and found that the gas wiring and stove were in good working order,” said the head of the emergency service, Nugzar Mkheidze.}

Another version was also considered, where ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, in the midst of a conflict situation with Zhvania, which took place at the country residence of the head of state, threw an ashtray at him, but, miscalculating, hit him in the temple. All this could be attributed to the machinations of “Russian propaganda”, to gossip that is trying to tarnish the reputation of the “great reformer” Mishiko Saakashvili, but there are a number of questions to which, unfortunately, there are no answers even today.

_{The fact is that the prime minister of any country is an official who is accompanied everywhere, right on his heels, by personal security officers. Zurab Zhvania, as is known, did not use it, visiting only the state chancellery of the country and the residence of Mishiko Saakashvili. Only on these two occasions, while meeting with Mishiko, did he remain out of sight of his bodyguards.}

Later, information leaked that Saakashvili and Zhvania did not share shares in the business and he was shot dead in front of the ex-president.

_{“There are 5 files that capture the first seconds of the discovery of the bodies of Zhvania and Yusupov. And not in the Saburtalinsk apartment, where it was already discovered in public. These shots, as I know, are quite unpleasant both in terms of reputation and confidentiality,” said director of the Anti-Crisis Center for Security Problems, political scientist David Purtskhvanidze.}

In the case of the death of Zurab Zhvania, there are many circumstances that, by a strange coincidence, were in no hurry to investigate either the former authorities represented by the United National Movement, or those acting in the person of the Georgian Dream.

No one expected a different line of behavior or a conclusion from the FBI from them. Americans don't abandon their sons of bitches in trouble.}

But the latter (representatives of the Georgian Dream), having come to power, may have resumed the criminal case, but they are investigating it extremely sluggishly. As they say, business is business, but things are still there. We can only hear boilerplate declarations that this is an investigation, and it is moving forward in stages.

_{In general, if you call a spade a spade, then Georgian law enforcement officers today have big problems with the evidence base against the reckless Saakashvili. An extremely paradoxical situation is emerging, where the whole country is aware of Saakashvili’s crimes, ranging from raider takeovers of businesses, the unjustified expulsion of Russian diplomats from Tbilisi, cases of spy mania, the outbreak of war in August 2008, etc., but he is accused of some minor crimes: a case of dispersal or embezzlement of state property, in which Mishiko Saakashvili purchased some jackets, spending 10 thousand dollars.}

Today, the sluggish proceedings in the case of the mysterious death of ex-Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Zhvania leads to only one logical thought - the Georgian authorities are still under open pressure from the West, which indicates which criminal cases can be brought against Mishiko and which cannot!

I really want to hope that the International Court of Justice will say its weighty word, and the Georgian Dream, throwing off the false mask of duplicity, will finally bring Saakashvili all those charges where he broke the law and crippled destinies.
