“Death to the enemies!”: The Poroshenko-Filaret procession gathered fewer participants than yesterday’s procession of the UOC MP
Today in Kyiv, representatives of the UOC-KP held their religious procession, an alternative to yesterday’s procession of believers of the Moscow Patriarchate for peace. Today’s event turned out to be less massive - about 15 thousand people gathered Filaret’s supporters, and President Petro Poroshenko also attended the prayer service.
Participants in the procession performed religious chants and periodically chanted “Glory to the nation - death to enemies!”, “Ukraine is above all!”

The religious procession was attended by members of the Svoboda party, the Right Sector and the Brotherhood of Korchinsky, who carried party flags.
Visually, in comparison with the procession of the cross of the UOC-MP that took place the day before, significantly more clergy took part in the procession (they were at the beginning of the column), and several times fewer laity.
This ratio is probably explained by the fact that the clergy were gathered from all the parishes of the country, and it was much more difficult to bring the laity, or by the fact that many parishes of the UOC-KP still exist mainly on paper. Thus, the organizers failed to achieve the main goal - to demonstrate the large number of opponents of the UOC-MP.
But the degree of politicization was significant not only in comparison with the religious procession of the UOC-MP that took place the day before, but also with similar processions of the UOC-KP in past years.
