Deadly number: A guy with a poster “I’m from Russia” went to the Maidan
A social experiment was conducted in Russia and Ukraine in which they tested how ordinary citizens of the two countries relate to each other.
A group of young people from the creative association “Troyban Show” decided to conduct a social experiment and find out how people in Russia treat Ukrainians. Activist guys came out to Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg with a poster “Hello, I’m from Ukraine, let’s hug” and offered hugs to people.
“80 percent of Russians came up and hugged us; in our experiment there was not a single negative person. All the people passing smiled at us warmly and thanked us for what we were doing. At some points it was pleasant to the point of tears and I wanted to cry. Guys, let’s all be friends and remain human in any situation,” the experiment participants urged.
A similar experiment was also carried out in Ukraine, where activists stood with a poster “Hello, I’m from Russia, let’s hug” right on the Maidan, not far from the main post office, where nationalist symbols are usually sold - UPA flags on the layouts are visible in the footage.
“As you can see for yourself from the social experiment, most people came up and hugged, there was no negativity. Many passers-by in Ukraine, approaching us, called us brave because we dared to go out into the street with such a sign,” said bloggers from Problematics.
