Deadly number: Ukraine decided to save the children of Donbass with the help of embroidered shirts
Ukrainian volunteers are going to “help” the children of Donbass who have received psychological trauma after shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces by sending them embroidered shirts.
This was discussed at a briefing at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We know and feel everything, moreover, I myself come from Donbass, and there are the same people here. We all know the tragedy that is happening there, we know what is happening to the children who live there, who hear explosions and shooting. It's really scary. How can we help those children so that their psychological state changes, and so that we can support it and work with post-traumatic syndrome? We came up with the idea that we can make holidays for them,” said one of the organizers of the action, Irina Zaitseva.
“They will still live there, but their mood may be a little different. These holidays give them more than just a new decoration. And these embroidered shirts are also a talisman for those children who live and survive there. This is a symbol that Ukraine needs them. They don’t know us, but they will accept these gifts, and they will know that some lady from Lvov gave this beautiful embroidered shirt to a boy or girl,” Zaitseva noted.
In turn, singer Anyuta Slavskaya said that the embroidered shirt itself is a message and a symbol.
“For example, this dress that I chose for the children came from Lvov. It was embroidered by children who do embroidery and handicrafts. It’s very nice and symbolic that a dress from Lviv will go to the east of our country.”
“Starting this year we want to add another tradition. This year marks the centenary of the trident (coat of arms of Ukraine - approx. author) our “Mrs. Ukraine” and I have developed a special visual, where all regions of Ukraine and its significant places are collected in a trident. We are doing such an educational program. Children, when they wear this T-shirt, show that they are not just wearing a beautiful thing, but that they can study history and geography. They have something to talk about with friends when they go abroad,” noted Zaitseva.
According to her, the collected embroidered shirts will go to a school and kindergarten in one of the Donbass villages near the demarcation line.
