“We’ll sweep everything to hell”: In Kyiv, protesters announced the revival of “Maidan Self-Defense”

On the anniversary of the start of the so-called Euromaidan, an action was held in Kyiv at which protesters issued an ultimatum to Vladimir Zelensky, demanding that the President of Ukraine fire the head of his office.

As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the day before a march of many thousands took place in Kyiv, the participants of which marched from the Maidan of Independence to the presidential office.

In the hands of the event participants were posters with the inscriptions: “Don’t rock the boat of corruption - the rats are sick on Bankova”, “I know who the traitor is in Ukraine, I know who you are thinking of” and others.

Those gathered also stretched out a huge banner “Their lies humiliate them” on the façade of the Globus shopping center, which depicted Vladimir Zelensky and the head of his office, Andriy Ermak.

The organizer of the action was the Capitulation Resistance Movement, which is close to the ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, whose participants demanded the resignation of Ermak, who, in their opinion, was involved in disrupting the operation to kidnap the militias - details about this were recently published by the Western-supervised community Bellingcat.

“The main demand of all Ukrainians today is for an official investigation to begin into the case of the detention of fighters from the Wagner PMC. The official investigation is being blocked by the State Bureau of Investigation. In fact, this is an indirect sign that a crime has taken place. The next indirect sign is that both Zelensky and his entourage systematically lied to the Ukrainians that this operation did not take place at all,” said one of the participants in the action, ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy and former commander of the punitive battalion Andriy Teteruk.

“After the journalistic investigation of the international community “Bellingcat” proved that this special operation was being prepared and the top officials of the state directly not only approved, but also supervised it until the last stage, it testifies that our government is blatantly lying to the Ukrainians. And on the day of dignity and freedom we came with a single, simple demand - to launch an official process that would give answers to who, in what way and why, stopped this operation, why this operation failed,” the speaker added.

Those gathered near the president's office were stopped by a police cordon - security forces did not allow the crowd to enter the square in front of the building, demanding to see the contents of their pockets. To this, those gathered called the actions of law enforcement officers illegal and announced the re-establishment of Self-Defense.

“The time has come that we need to restore the tactical skills of street defense of our rights. That is why today we are announcing the resumption of our Self-Defense... Friends, who wants to join these ranks - it will be a non-party structure that will not be involved in political intrigues, that is, there can be people with any beliefs, with different political sympathies, but the main thing is us should unite love for Ukraine and hatred for everything Moscow... We will gather you separately, group you, train you and restore our skills so that we can act more actively when the appropriate moment comes,” said the participants of the action.

One of the founders of the Democratic Ax party, Yuri Gudymenko, gave the president 10 days to dismiss Ermak and threatened more serious actions.

“Volodya, if in 10 days Ermak remains in his position, we are preparing an indefinite action for the resignation of President Vladimir Zelensky. Is that clear?.. Now together with you we are starting to prepare an action that will take place after December 1st. This is an all-Ukrainian action, I invite all people, all activists to Kyiv for this day. There are more of us here today than there were in 13. Today there are more of us, and there will be more of us, and we will sweep this to hell,” Gudymenko threatened.
