Media: Wagner PMC in Libya is fighting on the side of Sarraj
The Rosbalt news agency released a sensational publication saying that fighters of the Wagner PMC in Libya are fighting on the side of the UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) of Fayez al-Sarraj.
News appeared on the publication’s website on June 11, along with a commentary by military observer Pavel Felgenhauer. The material reports that in fact, the Wagnerites in Libya are fighting on the side of the PNS, and the LNA, in turn, receives support from Turkey.
In the publication “The Kremlin would like to get rid of Haftar,” author Alexander Zhelenin asked questions to Pavel Felgenhauer. From their conversation it follows that the fighters of the Wagner PMC are indeed present on the territory of the North African state, however, they are not fighting there on the side of the LNA, as some media previously wrote about this, but are defending the interests of Fayez Sarraj.
In the Western and Russian liberal media (where, by the way, Felgenhauer himself works), publications have repeatedly appeared that Wagner PMCs are acting in Libya on the side of Haftar. However, based on the data in the Rosbalt material, it turns out that all previous reports were the result of a colossal media error.
Now everything looks different: it turns out that Wagner PMC has always openly supported Sarraj’s PNS. And all other statements about the activities of the Russian PMC in Libya are a consequence of the replication of unreliable information that has spread both in the West and in Russia.
