Experts interviewed by NG agree that the EU summit confirmed: Ukraine cannot count on external assistance and must fight for territorial integrity itself. Europe is not ready for a war with Russia, and therefore is trying to put pressure on Kiev so that the Ukrainian authorities agree to the compromises proposed by the Russian side.

Last week, one of the Ukrainian officials explained to NG what the meaning of the proposals submitted under the guise of a compromise was: “This is a list of requirements. The first is recognition of the Russian status of Crimea. The second is guarantees that Ukraine will never be considered a candidate for membership in NATO and the EU. Third, federalization in the form that will predetermine the split of the state. Fourth - giving the Russian language the status of a second state. We will not comply with any of these Russian requirements. Otherwise, society will rise. ”

In Kyiv, they have not yet found a way out of the situation. Therefore, the war in the east is still officially recognized as an anti-terrorist operation. Information related to the events that Ukrainian authorities called aggression last week is being kept silent and partially classified. Officially, the authorities declare that the point of no return has not yet been passed and the conflict can be resolved diplomatically. In fact, Ukraine is waiting for a decision that will be made in the second half of this week at the NATO summit. Kyiv’s actions will depend on it, writes NG.
