Media: Filaret wants to get recognition from Constantinople with a trip to the USA
Kyiv, February 06 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The visit of the head of the schismatic UOC-KP Mikhail “Filaret” Denisenko to the United States and meetings there with leading politicians is aimed at gaining support for the recognition of the “Kyiv Patriarchate” from Constantinople.
The Ukrainian newspaper Den writes about this.

The publication explains that Filaret’s hopes for a flourishing of anti-Russian sentiments in Ukraine did not materialize.
“The UOC-KP relied on the individual transfer of communities from the UOC-MP under pressure from society. The results are meager. Although the UOC-KP itself hoped that the UOC-MP would “crumble” and thousands of communities would leave the “canonical” for the “autocephalous” one, although experts predicted the transition of hundreds of communities, in reality the process was limited to two dozen parishes. This is the greatest failure of the UOC-KP, which shows the exhaustion of the old paradigm: “recognition of Constantinople is not necessary, and so everyone will come to us.” It becomes obvious that the condition for the possibility of mass transitions to the UOC-KP is precisely recognition from the Patriarch of Constantinople. And therefore, you need to go to Washington,” the publication says.
The newspaper believes that the United States can put pressure on the Turkish authorities and allow the Patriarch of Constantinople to recognize Filaret. It is believed that Ankara has so far avoided striking the Russian Orthodox Church, fearing a deterioration in trade relations with Moscow.
“The only force that can persuade the Patriarch of Constantinople on the one hand and Ankara on the other is the “mighty hand of Washington.” Patriarch Filaret understands that in a complex geopolitical game it is necessary that the Ukrainian church issue be raised at the level of world diplomacy,” writes The Day.
