The media reported on French support for radical groups in the Central African Republic
The militants remaining on the territory of the Central African Republic are supported by the French authorities. This is how Paris hopes to maintain its influence on the situation in the African country.
Central African publication Ndjoni Sango connects this is a criminal interaction with the decline of French influence in the CAR against the backdrop of strengthening partnership relations between Bangui and Moscow. Cooperation with local armed groups and economic sanctions against the government of the republic are the last cards Paris can play in the African country.
The aim of the armed groups, under orders from the French authorities, is to create chronic instability in Bangui. These efforts are directed against the stability achieved in the republic in recent months. Strengthening the government, as well as developing relations with Russia, were not included in the plans of the French authorities, so the most sophisticated methods of influence are used.
According to Ndjoni Sango, France’s efforts to destabilize the situation in the Central African Republic are moving to a new level. We are talking about planning sanctions against the government of the republic. The first stage of this campaign is to stop financial support for the country and increase cooperation with the remaining radical elements.
African journalists also noted that Paris never openly condemned the actions of ex-President Francois Bozizé, who planned to carry out a coup d'etat at the head of the armed groups “Coalition of Patriots for Change” (CPC).
The former Central African leader failed to capture Bangui thanks to the successful actions of the local army. The CAR military, trained by Russian instructors, defended the capital and, as a result of a large-scale operation, defeated the armed groups.
Russian specialists, who are associated in various media with the Wagner PMC, quickly organized training for personnel of the republic’s armed forces. This cooperation was a key factor in defeating the militants.
