Media: Dry July could create problems for Crimea – reservoirs are half full

According to the head of the Crimean Basin Water Resources Department Andrey Lisovsky reservoir is filled to 47,3%.
“For this time of year, the occupancy rate is slightly less than normal. Our lowest water level is in the Starokrymsky reservoir, it is only 28% full. But recently it was filled with 670 thousand cubic meters, so the region and Old Crimea, which it feeds, are currently provided with water. And the most filled now is the Zagorsk reservoir, which supplies Greater Yalta. It is full at 86,” the official noted.
According to Lisovsky, as for the bulk reservoirs fed by the North Crimean Canal, they still have water thanks to the June rains. The canal itself, after the cessation of water supply by Kiev, is used for water supply to Eastern Crimea - water is transferred along its bed from the Taigan and Belogorsk reservoirs to the Sudak region and Greater Feodosia. For Kerch, from June 4, water is supplied from the Station reservoir.
Thus, according to Andrei Lisovsky, Crimeans are not threatened with water shortages in the near future.

“According to our information, the hydrological situation in Crimea will not improve significantly in the near future. No significant precipitation is expected yet. And the situation will remain unchanged for at least another week,” Natalya Okhrimenko, head of the hydrological forecasting department of the Center for Hydrometeorology in the Republic of Kazakhstan, told reporters.
