The newspaper “Krymskaya Pravda” writes about this.

On the night of March 6, the publication recalls, the forces of the Black Sea Fleet carried out an operation to block the Southern Naval Base of the Ukrainian Navy on Lake Donuzlav. The decommissioned diving boats VM-232, VM-413 and VM-416 and the 180-meter large anti-submarine ship "Ochakov" were sunk in the fairway.

Work on clearing the Donuzlav fairway began on April 7; the project for raising the BOD was developed by the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Rescue and Underwater Technologies of the Navy “Naval Academy”. In August the ship was placed on an even keel, and a month later it was raised.

Now the 8500-ton ship has been towed to the Donuzlav pier. This required several months of hard work by military personnel from the ship-lifting squad, divers from the rescue squad, specialists from the 13th ship repair plant of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and the Sevzapkanat enterprise. Every day, in three shifts, about a hundred specialists worked on raising the BOD. 23 tons of ropes were delivered to Sevastopol by transport aircraft, to Donuzlav by KamAZ trucks, and a hundred-ton crane moved along the side of the ship. To seal Ochakov, more than 400 metal patches were installed, and pumps with a total capacity of more than 6,5 thousand cubic meters per hour were used to drain the compartments.

“For the first time in more than 20 years, such a large-scale, unique operation to raise a ship was carried out at the Black Sea Fleet. It was not only crowned with success, but also gave the younger generation the opportunity to gain invaluable experience of united work during operations of this level,” noted Vasily Bekh, an engineer of the Black Sea Fleet emergency rescue team, in the commentary.

The Ochakov BOD, named after the Russian army's victory over the Turks in 1788, became part of the Black Sea Fleet in 1973. He traveled hundreds of thousands of nautical miles, participated in nine military campaigns, and became the best in the USSR Navy three times. The ship is known from the heroic adventure film Solo Voyage.
