The media started talking about the upcoming arrest of Chubais
Following the arrest of former Open Government Minister Mikhail Abyzov, accused of organizing a criminal community to steal funds from energy companies, even more high-profile criminal cases may follow.
“Moskovsky Komsomolets” writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Even the president’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, had to say that the Kremlin does not consider Abyzov’s detention to be a continuation of the campaign against systemic liberals. Which, naturally, only added fuel to the fire and it became finally clear to armchair analysts: they were clearing the field around Medvedev so that he would be left alone. One in the field is not a warrior, and now, they say, there are two options - either you are next, or you peacefully go wherever they say. Head, for example, the Constitutional Court. We don’t abandon our own,” the publication notes.
The publication points out that it is those who are associated with the liberal camp in power who are expressing concern about the case against Abyzov.
“The conclusion is: the transfer of power has begun and the economic-political group siloviki will have a place in the sun. And in order to finally gain a foothold, they just need to take Chubais, who they will reach through Abyzov. Whether they will come out or not is a moot point, but the effect of Chubais’s arrest will indeed be comparable to the “Crimean effect,” sums up MK.
