This was stated during a briefing by the speaker of the National Security and Defense Council information center Vladimir Chepovoy.
“If the border were under the control of our troops, then we would have given this news first, and this would have been such a stage of victory and transition to the president’s clear plan. This is not the case yet, and we are simply talking about the dynamics of taking control of our territory,” Chepovoy said.
Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” Andrei Purgin also questioned the statement of Verkhovna Rada Speaker Alexander Turchynov about the military establishing complete control over the border.
“You can, of course, say that a garden blooms on the moon, but we all understand that this is not so. Maybe somewhere in the Sumy or Kharkov region they blocked something, but we have a war going on here and they didn’t take control of anything here, just as they didn’t erect any structures or barbed wire,” Russian media quote Purgin .
In his opinion, units of the Ukrainian security forces located in the east of the country are beyond the control of Kyiv. He believes that statements about closing the Ukrainian-Russian border are aimed primarily at an external, mostly Western, audience.
As Navigator reported, the Ministry of Defense previously stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had blocked the Russian-Ukrainian border.
