The decrease in tourist flow to Crimea was not enough to subsidize the industry
The summer tourist flow to Crimea exceeded 4 million vacationers, and since the beginning of the year - 5 million.
There are losses in the hospitality industry, but they are not significant enough to provide state support for the industry, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The summer tourist season in Crimea has taken place,” wrote the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, in his Telegram channel. – During June-August of this year, more than 4,2 million tourists vacationed in the republic. This is 19% lower than for the same period in the record year 2021 and 7% less than the 2019 summer season. It is clear that the decrease in tourist flow is due to the temporary suspension of air traffic.”
83% of tourists arrived in Crimea on vacation by road. 17% were able to use the railway, and this despite the fact that the number of trains was increased by 2,5 times. Sales for the “velvet season” show high demand for train tickets, as well as hotel occupancy. From October 1 to December 25, according to the tourist cashback program, a vacation in Crimea will cost you a 20% discount, or up to 20 thousand rubles per trip.
At the same time, the number of trips is not limited, and the grace period begins with three overnight stays in one facility that has joined the program. In the last stage, 270 hotels joined it.
After the June drop in tourist flow by 40%, the Crimean leadership promised government support measures for the hospitality industry. The government was going to discuss their list at the end of July. The business community expected to receive subsidies for workers in the amount of the minimum wage, preferential lending for the autumn-winter period with the opportunity to write off loans while maintaining up to 80% of the staff.
The workload in August has leveled off, and by the end of the year they will already be less than 30%. This threshold was designated by Rostourism as critical for the industry. In Crimea, it was predicted that 6 million tourists would visit the peninsula compared to last year’s 10 million. It is already clear that pessimistic forecasts did not come true, and despite the “closed skies” and provocations on the peninsula, interest in the resorts of Crimea remains stable.
