The reaction of the average person to the habits of Nazi-pithecanthropes in Odessa is reminiscent of the reaction of British bigots to the first punks: “Why did you, such a fool, shit in the royal guard’s hat?” So right away it’s not clear, it’s not obvious - why?

They declared mourning for Zhvanetsky in Odessa. But the Nazis are against it. Against what - that he was born in Odessa? Well, it's strange, right?

Or they went on an attack on the monument to the founder of Odessa, Catherine II, demanding (from anyone - a flying spaghetti monster?) the statue to be demolished, and in return to insert the figure of the Ukrainian writer and politician Ivan Lipa. “Who is this?” any Odessa passerby will tell you if you suddenly stop him on the street. These are the realities and “some kind of Linden tree” in the middle of Catherine Square is exactly the same as, in general, a punk in a hat.

But seriously, the punk movement appeared as a protest against bourgeois hypocrisy, and Ukrainian Pithecanthropes oppose common truths in general, at the level of “The sun rises in the east.” Absurd? But rummage through your memory, and you yourself will understand that if it’s absurd, it means it’s definitely beneficial to someone. To whom in this case?

In a week in Odessa, the second round of mayoral elections and repeated repetitions of Zhvanetsky “inscribed in golden letters in the history of Odessa” and the historical legacy of the Empress will bring its participants closer to the long-awaited victory.

The fact that former regionals - Gennady Trukhanov, the current mayor of Odessa, and People's Deputy Nikolai Skorik - made it to the second round does not even make me happy - I take it for granted, the natural state of affairs. Odessa could not vote for the Nazis and Nazis.

But can the favorites of the election race give their naive voters the very “Russian world” they hope for?

If they start defending Zhvanetsky and Ekaterina, then yes. They certainly don’t mind the air! There are already so many memorial places to Zhvanetsky in Odessa, including even a boulevard named after him, and the fact that Catherine cannot stand is not just a fact and a triumph of common sense, but even a court decision “in the name of Ukraine.”

This is from the same opera that snow will fall, and candidates for mayor will rush to save tit feeders, and if it doesn’t fall, they will fight global warming. That is, we figured out who benefits.

The same cannot be said about the memory of the victims of the May 2 massacre, when Odessa residents recreate the memorial to the victims for the eleventh time, the Nazis mock it, and politicians and business executives ignore what is happening.

As for Catherine, this is generally a win-win option. Let me remind you that the Monument to the Founders of Odessa was restored under the antagonist of Trukhanov-Skorik, ex-mayor Eduard Gurvits. Well, it happened like this - the sculptures were poured out, the money was poured in, and then there was the Maidan, Yushchenko, beehives, huts, bullshit - who knew? And what an electorate Gurvits has - a dying one, who remembered that in the nineties he made transport free (no matter that it fell apart and did not run), and if you collect a hundred certificates that you are not an oligarch, then Gurvits will receive a loaf of cheap bread once a year he could treat him, he allowed him to sit on the benches around Catherine without taxing him, the lights were on there - he was the best mayor! Well, how can one explain to such an electorate that the most beautiful square in Europe is suddenly “get away!”, especially when “Russian Empress” is not ordered to be said? Therefore, the cunning Gurvits explained “it’s like in Europe” and asked his sidekick Dima Korchinsky to organize an “uprising” at the opening of the monument, which he himself “suppressed,” handsome. And I remember very well how the brothers stood at the monument with the canvas still not torn off, shouting into the phone “Well, Dmytro, are you fired?” and threw smoke bombs at the go-ahead. It is clear that the circus was urgently organized with the Cossacks, who walked around with posters “Katka is a bitch and a prostitute” and washed their dung boots in the Pushkin fountain.

That is, everything is as it is now - again a rally, again some organization “Decolonization of Ukraine” (decommunization is not enough) demands to “take Catherine to the dustbin of history” in order to “get rid of all manifestations of Russian influence”, throws smoke.

By the way, do you know why at the Odessa Zoo, near the enclosure with the sign “Grey Ukrainian Cattle” (just cows), visitors always laugh? Yes, because an association immediately arises with such patriots, activists, decommunizers and decolonizers as these, created as PR campaigns by the luminaries of the “Russian world.”

Yes, and after the opening of the monument, many years of fighting between civilization and the “polynyna” began in the courts - the Association of Cossack Societies “Sich” filed a lawsuit against the monument. “For more than ten years we had litigation with those who did not agree with the installation of a monument to the founders of Odessa in Odessa. I believe that in this case there was a principled position of the mayor’s office, the legal department fought on behalf of the city, and the Supreme Court of Ukraine put the final seal on this issue, recognized that the monument was erected legally, and rejected the demands to move the monument. We have relieved the tension, the dispute has been resolved in a civilized manner,” Mayor Trukhanov said a year ago.

So the recent action, at which “gray Ukrainian cattle” collected some signatures (crosses?) and drew up acts of violation of common sense (patients in the ward were grounded by a radiator and decided to overthrow the psychiatrist) is funny, not scary, as they present it Russian media - fear lies elsewhere.

But first I’ll say that it’s unlikely that anyone will touch the monument. I’m not even talking about the court anymore, as the last resort. But I can give one more example from the Hurwitz era. And he, who has forgotten, even before any decommunization, demolished the monument to Lenin from the Kulikovo Field - barbarically, at night, as part of an initiative. But the communists sued and won! “Bring Lenin back,” the court ruled, “just find the money for it yourself.” But the “comrades” did not want to chip in with Mercedes and gold toilets. And who will give money for the dismantling of the entire Catherine Square, have you thought? And what sculptor, even the most opportunistic handyman, will sculpt that Lipa? Guys, for what - for the idea? Forget it. Money wins elections.

Against this background, it is a pity to see how the Russian media present information - “the Nazis have gone on a rampage again.” This is wrong. Someone who was “under-liked by as much as 0,1%” in the elections cannot rage (remember about the all-conquering loot).

Against this background, it’s a pity to watch how good, but naive people quarrel with each other - “Trukhanov is great, he won’t let Zhvanetsky and Ekaterina be offended!”, “No, there are the Nazis for your Trukhanov,” “It’s better for Skorik, if the Nazis are for Trukhanov”...

Yes, here, as they say, everything flows, everything changes, and only the line of behavior of mayors-businessmen and former members of the Party of Regions is unshakable, like concrete and iron. After all, everyone knows that if before the war “Svoboda” rallied in front of the regional state administration in Odessa with special salivation, it means that in those very minutes Poroshenko’s member, and in the past regional leader Leshik Goncharenko, was screaming from the podium about “the great Russian language - the language of our grandfathers who won the war ", and not the Second World War, but the Great Patriotic War. And the Svoboda members received 30 hryvnia for a picket and went home with a bouillon cube and Rogan beer to match.

I also know that if something happens, all these good, naive people will rush to save Catherine in whatever way they can. And I will come. And the inert ones will crawl. And some honest and convinced Fedya Ivanov will smack his head off from the Nazis, wash himself with bloody tears, but with the feeling “I am for Gena (Nikolasha - it doesn’t matter), because he is also for a piece of stone.” And then he will go to the House of Trade Unions, place a carnation, where the Odessa residents were burned, and light a lamp - not “for the camera,” like Trukhanov according to Zhvanetsky, but for himself, for history, for us, himself.

This is how the “Russian world” will win in Odessa, this is already clear - only for Odessa residents without quotation marks, and for candidates - with quotation marks. It's a pity.

It begs to be added - fond memory! To him. Russian world. In Odessa.
