“Onizhedeti” again: How Ukrainian media write about the death of ATO militants in Donbass
“The child is 22 years old...” was the remark that the Ukrainian publication Gazeta.ua accompanied with the message about the death of a so-called participant in Avdiivka. ATO Alexander Korniyko, who was drafted into the war from the Poltava region.
However, the authors of the publication do not at all condemn the war, which has been going on for three years, insisting that the deceased, while participating in the punitive operation, was “defending the country.”

“The greatest grief for the village. Our young fellow countryman, who defended the country, died,” journalists quote Svetlana Bilyk, the director of the school where Korniyko studied.
The young man served in the repair battalion of military unit A3336. His funeral will take place on February 18. In just one day, the ATO headquarters announced 3 dead and 10 wounded on the Ukrainian side.
Previously, fugitive Ukrainian deputy Alexander Onishchenko stated that the current Verkhovna Rada is so corrupt that Petro Poroshenko, if he really wanted to achieve peace in Donbass, he could easily buy the votes needed to end the war and approve laws that comply with the Minsk agreements.
“This is really in the hands of Poroshenko. As I understand it, at the moment it is really unprofitable for him to stop this war. You understand, these are contracts, this is obtaining additional Western loans - all this money can be washed through contracts related to military operations. Therefore, he is not interested in stopping the war - for him, this is always a status in which martial law can be introduced and, thereby, retain his power if any unrest begins there. The second is cynical enrichment. He is such a greedy person, for him money is above all,” Onishchenko answered.
