“Let’s talk about Crimea right away to close these questions. I will answer exactly what I think. From the point of view of international law, Crimea is Ukrainian. Dot. Let's start with the fact that Ukraine is Russia's most important partner. And restoring normal, better relations is probably the most important task that Russia faces today,” Sobchak said.
At the same time, the TV presenter admitted that there are Russian people living on the peninsula who sincerely supported reunification with Russia.
“Next, let’s talk. How it will be, how life will continue for people in Crimea. It is important how these people return to Ukraine tomorrow. There are really a large number of Russian people who support this. But I give a specific answer to a specific question. We broke our word - the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. Then this is a big problem that needs to be discussed. As a politician and as a woman, I can say that it is important for Russia and Ukraine to restore our friendship at any cost,” Sobchak added.
