Staff reporter Venediktova: Putin is laughing at the West. Need to do something
In the “game” with the West that Russia is playing, the deck of cards is in the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The threat of sanctions has no effect on Moscow.
The Kiev correspondent of Ekho Moskvy radio, Saken Aimurzaev, said this on air in the video blog of Sergei Leshchenko, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocation, serving the office of the president today, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
According to the journalist, after recent security negotiations in Russia, “they feel their absolute triumph now.”
“And no matter how crazy these proposals to contain NATO are, they sit and talk to them. This is a very important achievement for Putin’s diplomacy, let’s call it that, because this is what they wanted - so that at the first call a great power would talk to the great power that Russia and its current government considers itself to be. Everything is very persistent. I don’t know - President Zelensky proposes to meet for three, it’s interesting what Putin will answer, but for now it seems to me that he is banking, as gamblers say, he is giving out cards and this is a little alarming,” says the correspondent.
“I really hope that there will be some kind of answer - asymmetrical, symmetrical - it doesn’t matter. If you are already sitting down to play seriously, then you just need to have some answers, because just look at how he calmly deploys his complex combinations in Kazakhstan, constantly threatens Ukraine, and in response - the threat of sanctions. They are already openly laughing at this. They’re just laughing now,” said Aimurzaev.
