Sobol and his accomplices were detained and taken to the police station
Lyubov Sobol, who recommends herself as a lawyer for Alexei Navalny, was detained in Moscow today.
Sobol’s lawyer Vladimir Voronin said on the liberal Dozhd TV channel that his client was detained for “calling for unauthorized rallies,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“How can you detain a person for something that has not happened yet?!” Voronin was indignant.
This looked rather strange, since an hour before the arrest, Sobol had called for people to go to unauthorized rallies on the air of the same Dozhd.
“We have the right to defend Navalny’s freedom on the streets, because we no longer have any other rights left. I openly encourage everyone to come out!” said Sobol.
In the same video, Sobol with a blue eye complained about surveillance near her house.
“There are people in civilian clothes... an invasion of my privacy... they have no right to do this,” said Sobol, who considers it unfair to bring a criminal case against her after she tried to use force to break into the house of an elderly woman (the man’s mother-in-law , accused by Navalny of his “poisoning”).
At the end of her interview, Sobol let slip about the true goals of the unauthorized rallies organized by Navalny’s supporters.
“If I were them, I would think about what is better: an uncontrollable crowd or people with whom you can talk,” Sobol threatened the state.
Liberal media also report the detention of another Navalny lawyer, Vladlen Los, Navalny’s press secretary, Kira Yarmysh, and his associate Georgy Alburov.
