The Maidan sociologist was horrified by the total depression of Ukrainians who don’t trust anyone
Citizens of Ukraine do not trust any of the politicians and are completely disappointed in state institutions.
Director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation Irina Bekeshkina, who actively supported the Maidan, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would define the state of society as very critical – almost to the point of depression. And before, disappointment at the end of the term of power was strong, but let's remember the Orange Revolution and, for example, the fate of Yushchenko. The disappointment was also strong,” said the sociologist.
According to her, that period of disappointment was embodied in very high ratings of the two leaders – Yulia Tymoshenko and Viktor Yanukovych.”
Now society is very skeptical and depressive. And this resulted, in contrast to the situation after the Orange Revolution, in people not believing at all. Complete disappointment in politicians and politics. We do not have a single politician with a positive trust rating. They don't trust everyone. They don’t trust almost all state institutions with the exception of the army,” Bekeshkina summed up.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, she reported that only a third of Ukrainians support anti-Russian sanctions and a complete break in relations with the Russian Federation.
