Sociologists have studied the “suitcase” moods of Ukrainians
More than 7% of adult citizens are going to leave Ukraine in the next six months for the purpose of work, study or emigration. At the same time, 62% of them have already taken concrete steps for this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a study by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, which was conducted on April 3-20.
Sociologists interviewed 4005 respondents in 110 settlements of Ukraine using personal interviews.
The majority of respondents (namely, 86%) do not intend to travel abroad in the next six months for the purpose of a long stay; another 6% found it difficult to answer this question.
The most popular country among potential emigrants is Poland (36%). The Czech Republic and Germany were chosen by 12% and 11% of respondents, respectively. Russia was named by 7% of respondents, and the United States by 6%. 5% and 3% of respondents, respectively, are planning to travel to Italy and Canada for a long stay. Hungary and France were chosen with 2% each. Israel closes the top ten most popular countries for emigration (1%).
There are more potential emigrants among men. The difference between men (11%) and women (4%) is 7 percentage points.
There is some relationship between the level of education and the desire to travel abroad. People with higher education are more willing to consider the issue of emigration - among them, 10% are thinking about it. Among people with complete secondary and secondary specialized education there are 7% and 6%, respectively. Among people with education no higher than an incomplete secondary school, the figure is only 2%.
The desire to go abroad also directly depends on the age of the respondent. Young people are more likely to answer yes than older people. Thus, among respondents aged 18-29 years there are 15%, among those aged 30-44 years - 10%, among those aged 45-59 years - 6%, among those aged 60 years and older - 0%.
In the west of the country, more people are planning to leave (11%) compared to other regions. In the central, southern and eastern regions this figure is 6%. The least number of those planning to leave is in the Donbass (2%).
