Sociologists: Kharkov is next
Kyiv, December 14 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Undecided residents of Kharkov can easily be turned against the idea of a united Ukraine, and then the region will continue the parade of sovereignties of the people’s republics.
The Kiev weekly Korrespondent writes about this, citing sociological research data.

“The city is explosive not only literally, but figuratively, experts believe,” the publication notes. – And under unfavorable circumstances, he may well continue the parade of sovereignties of the so-called people's republics. […] According to the Ukrainian Sociological Standard company, patriots in Kharkov are a minority – 25%. Pro-Russian citizens make up 35%, and the remaining 40% have not decided on their position.”
At the same time, the director of the research service Denis Podyachev, quoted by the magazine, explains the visually pro-Ukrainian appearance of the city: “Our patriots are more active and visible. Therefore, in general, a picture is created in yellow and blue tones.”
It is precisely the undecided residents of the city that cause serious concern for the pro-Ukrainian sociologist.
“This inert part of Kharkov residents recognizes only the principle of force,” Correspondent cites Podyachev’s opinion. – So far, the Ukrainian authorities have shown that there is law in the city and region. But any disaster that knocks Kharkov’s “couch troops” out of their comfort zone could easily turn them against the idea of a united country. Then the patriots will be in the minority and anything can be expected.”
