Sociologists recognized Strelkov as the most popular politician in Russia
Active participation in Russian politics of DPR and LPR figures would be welcomed by 29% of Russians, the Levada Center found out. The former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov is known to 27% of citizens, and the majority treat him well. Political strategists are talking about a request for new faces in politics, writes Kommersant.

“In the depths of the people’s consciousness lies the desire to diversify politics, to add more action to it,” explained Georgy Chizhov, vice-president of the Center for Political Technologies. But these respondents speak “of a movement not in the European direction, but rather the opposite.” And in this, the expert believes, there is a “peculiar threat”: “Bright figures can explode the calm.”
Separately, Levada Center measures attitudes towards Igor Strelkov. The number of Russians who know him increased from September 2014 to May 2015 from 21% to 27%. The attitude towards him is “generally positive,” noted Alexey Grazhdankin: 29% of respondents speak of their admiration.
Georgy Chizhov did not rule out that in the 2016 State Duma elections one of the parties could “symbolically include on the list” a participant in the conflict in Donbass. Strelkov’s fame is high enough to go to the polls under the slogan of collecting Russian lands and get the result at the head of the list of a non-parliamentary party, said political strategist Andrei Bogdanov. In his opinion, there are not enough bright figures on the patriotic platform, and people “want something new.”
