This is stated in a publication on the organization’s website. It turned out that the New Year's spending of the average Ukrainian family remained either at last year's level or exceeded it. In other words, Ukrainians do not intend to save on the New Year's table.

“74% of respondents reported planned expenses for the festive table this year, each of whom intends to spend an average of 654 UAH on this. This is approximately 1,3 times more than the same figure last year. But, given that over the past year the dollar exchange rate has increased 1,4 times, we can conclude that the average Ukrainian’s actual expenses for a festive table will be approximately at the level of last year. This year, 63% of respondents reported their willingness to spend money on gifts for loved ones. The average amount of their expenses under this item will be approximately 542 UAH, which is approximately 1,4 times more than last year or, adjusted for inflation, almost the same as last year. Finally, expenses for various entertainment. This year, a relatively small proportion of respondents reported them - 23%. On average, each of them is ready to spend 470 UAH for these purposes, which in nominal terms is 1,6 times higher than expenses for a similar item last year,” the publication says.

Sociologists have also identified several patterns in the distribution of New Year's spending by Ukrainians.

In particular, people aged 30-50 years plan the highest New Year's expenses, and those of retirement age plan the lowest; the exception is the planned expenses for entertainment and travel, the largest amounts of which were recorded in the responses of young people under the age of 30;

In addition, it turned out that residents of the southern and especially central regions of Ukraine are going to spend more on holidays, and residents of the eastern and western regions are planning to spend less than the national average.

It is noted that the survey was conducted by the R&B company as part of the Omnibus project during the period December 1-10, 2016, based on a nationwide sample. The sample size was 1803 people. The sampling error is ±2,4%.
