In Ukraine, after the start of the war and the loss of part of the territories, the process of ethnic homogenization of the population continues. Thus, 92% of Ukrainian citizens consider themselves ethnic Ukrainians and only 6% consider themselves ethnic Russians.

According to the results of the study, among ethnic Ukrainians, 77% feel they belong to only one nationality, while among ethnic Russians only 39% adhere to this point of view.
There is also a tendency that the younger the respondent, the more likely it is that he identifies himself as an ethnic Ukrainian. Thus, people aged 60 years and over call themselves native Ukrainians in 87% of cases, but the corresponding share of young people, who are from 18 to 29 years old, is 96%.
The study was conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center on March 3-9 among 2 respondents in all regions of Ukraine with the exception of Crimea and uncontrolled territories of Donbass.
Let us note that such data from sociologists is not surprising, since with the loss of Crimea and part of Donbass, Ukraine also lost the majority of citizens who considered themselves Russian by ethnic origin (about 6 million people, 15% of the country’s pre-war population). Those who remain, even Russian-speaking ones, mostly consider themselves Ukrainians. Propaganda also plays into this process, because of which being Russian in Ukraine today is unfashionable, unprestigious, and often dangerous.
