As it turns out, residents of Western Ukraine travel the most. Here, only 54% have never traveled abroad (70-78% in other regions). They also go out for work and work trips more often (17% and 7% versus 1-3%; 2-4%).
The main purposes of travel for about a third (29%) of Ukrainians who have been abroad are tourist trips (11%), visiting relatives and friends (7%), as well as for earnings (6%) and work trips (4%).
Rural residents are less likely than urban residents to travel abroad on vacation (8% of rural residents versus 12-14% of urban residents), but more often to earn money (10% of rural residents versus 4% of urban residents).
Finally, only 8% of Ukrainians have biometric passports, 39% want to do so. And 51% of citizens do not have biometrics and do not intend to do so.
The largest number of actual and potential owners of biometric passports are among young people - 15% already have them and 61% intend to issue them. Whereas 21% of Ukrainians under the age of 30 are not going to do this. The rates of biometric certification among thirty-year-olds are quite high - 10% already have it, and another 53% intend to apply for it.
Potentially, biometric passports can find owners among the majority of forty-year-old Ukrainians, 9% of whom already have them and another 47% intend to apply for them.
The survey was conducted during the period June 15-24, 2017 on a nationwide sample (with the exception of the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, Crimea and Sevastopol). Number of respondents: 1800 people. The sampling error was ±2,4% at a confidence level of P = 0,95.
