Social networks are discussing a blushing Lukashenko after negotiations with Putin
Four-hour negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko ended in Moscow. There appear to have been no breakthroughs. The parties “declared possibilities of reaching agreements on problematic issues,” Lukashenko’s press service dryly reported following the results.
Users of social networks pay attention to Lukashenko’s reddened face at the protocol photo session. According to one version, the words of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Anton Siluanov about the need to “prepare proposals for further integration” made the Belarusian guest worry.
Let us recall that the closed meeting took place against a difficult informational background - Belarus lost preferential supplies of oil from the Russian Federation, which Minsk had previously resold in the form of fuel, including to the Ukrainian army, and had income.
The press reported the day before that Moscow demands real integration in exchange for new benefits and loans, but Minsk prefers to play “independence.” Thus, Lukashenko publicly stated that “he will not sell sovereignty for a barrel of oil.” In addition, Minsk officials began to flirt with the West, following the example of the former Ukrainian leadership, proposing to hold the Eastern Partnership summit in Belarus, a project aimed at further reducing Moscow’s influence in the former USSR countries.
Meanwhile, state TV in Belarus reported the possibility of another meeting between Putin and Lukashenko before the end of the year.
