Sofia rallies for Bulgaria's neutrality in the conflict in Ukraine
Hundreds of citizens came out to a rally in the center of Sofia on March 12, demanding complete neutrality of Bulgaria in the armed conflict in Ukraine.
The protesters also opposed Bulgaria’s membership in NATO and the EU, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Citizens gathered in front of the presidential palace prayed for peace, holding banners with slogans: “Bulgaria is a zone of peace, we do not shoot at our brothers,” “The Eastern Front again – but without us,” “Bulgarian guys have no place in the slaughterhouse.”
Bulgarian nuclear physicist Hristo Lavchiev called on the authorities not to play at war, because, in his words, “those who play at war between NATO and Russia are playing at World War III.”
The organizers of the action were the “Bulgarian National Council for Peace” and the organization “Free and Peaceful Bulgaria”. Similar rallies, although less numerous, took place on March 12 in other large cities in Bulgaria.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, Bulgarians rose to protest against the demolition of the monument to the Soviet Army in Sofia.
