Cellmates gave the nickname to journalist Muravitsky, accused of treason in Ukraine
Ukrainian courts release people who have committed open violence or caused colossal losses to the state. However, at the same time, journalists who are disliked by the authorities remain in prison.
Journalist Vasily Muravitsky, accused by the SBU of treason, stated this during a court hearing in Zhitomir, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Kaskiv, who caused 7,5 million hryvnia in damage to the state, was released on bail of 160 thousand hryvnia, Kokhanivsky, who shot in the middle of Kyiv and called for a change in government structure and territorial integrity, was also released. I did not cause any material damage, did not make any aggressive actions, moreover, the indictment that they handed over is a fiction, a complete lie and ideological persecution,” Muravitsky said in an interview with his colleague Ruslan Kotsaba.
The arrested man also emphasized that even fellow criminals gave him the nickname “intellectual”: “It’s getting ridiculous, in the cell, according to the established prison tradition, a nickname is given. In my cell I have the nickname “intellectual”. Some people call me an “intellectual,” while others call me a “journalist.” Even criminals call me an “intellectual.”
