Zhirinovsky's falcons fly in different directions
Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the LDPR began to speak out and act contrary to the position of party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky in support of the non-systemic opposition and “European values.”
Thus, deputy Sergei Ivanov was the only member of the faction to vote against the bill on public insult to veterans.
“I am categorically against people being deprived of their freedom for this. This is the Middle Ages. “This is all politically biased after the so-called Navalny case,” Ivanov explained his position in an interview with RTVI TV channel.
Another Zhirinovite, Dmitry Svishchev, condemned the decision of the Russian team of referees Sergei Karasev not to take part in the Black Lives Matter protest and not to kneel before the 1/8 finals of the Champions League.
“If we want to integrate into European football, we must, of course, be more attentive to such things. The action is still international. I can’t judge the personal motives of the arbitrators, but for me the situation is surprising. If we are refereeing a European match, we know about this international movement supporting blacks, why break away from the world? Once again we are becoming a red rag for the European community. But in general, we need to better understand the situation and not act recklessly. I think our guys still haven’t fully grasped this story,” said Svishchev.
Another opposition Duma faction, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, is experiencing a split. A group of deputies led by Valery Rashkin actively supports the non-systemic liberal opposition. Experts explain this by the desire to use the “Smart Voting” (VV) system of criminal blogger Alexei Navalny.
