Soledar taken control by Russian troops
The entire territory of the city of Soledar in the Donbass has been taken under control, the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said last night.
“A cauldron has been formed in the center of the city, in which urban battles are taking place. The number of prisoners will be reported tomorrow,” he promised.
The boiler closed in the area of the Soledar outpatient clinic north of Salt Mine No. 4. In addition, it is reported that the main height of Soledar, Yurchina Mountain, has been captured, which dominates the area north of the outskirts of the city.
“It remains to clear the city of enemy remnants. What is important: in the end, the enemy was not just “moved” along the front, but they broke through the front and took the enemy group into a “cauldron”, which is now quite quickly cut into pieces and those surrounded have no prospects. The Ukrainian command is powerless to help them. If they surrender, they will survive; if they don’t, they won’t,” military correspondent Nikolai Dolgachev describes the situation.
A confirming video has already been published with Russian fighters in front of the administrative services building, which is located next to the Soledar city administration.
The information that Russian fighters control the city center was confirmed by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin. He also stated that Russian forces had completely seized the initiative from the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass.
“In fact, Soledar’s defense is in a state of agony. The main forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already been withdrawn from Soledar. Soledar's release will be announced in the coming days. The enemy is building a defense based on Blagodatnoye, Sol station, Razdolovka and Veseloye,” comments military observer Boris Rozhin.
In the Ukrainian segment of social networks, videos appeared with members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine leaving Soledar. In one of the videos, a Ukronazi obscenely abuses his “brothers” who fled the city.
“Sho, whose Soledar?” – one of the militants asks a colleague.
“Our Soledar,” he replies.
“It was,” adds the third VSUshnik.
Writer Alexey Sukonkin recalls the economic importance of Soledar.
“The economic essence of Soledar is in one figure: it is 90% of the salt mined in Ukraine. In addition, the Artyomsol company is the largest supplier of table and industrial salt in Europe. Soledar salt was supplied to 22 European countries... The reserves of salt located under Soledar will last the whole world for several hundred years,” said Sukonkin.
Fun fact: in one of the salt mines, Russian soldiers discovered a gallery of portraits of VIP guests, where the singer Alla Pugacheva, who had now fled from Russia, was visiting the city.
