The new subjects that became part of the Russian Federation became Russian during the hostilities, which are still ongoing, but does the article of the Constitution on the use of tactical nuclear weapons apply to their occupied parts, just as in the case of an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to enter Crimea, or is this still “ not quite our territory”?

TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov and State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin argued about this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

A heated discussion touched upon the topic of the use of nuclear weapons, of which Solovyov turned out to be an ardent supporter.

“Let me remind you of our doctrine: if we are talking about the existence of the Russian state as such. Are we talking now? Not at the moment. We are talking about the fate of the special operation, the battle for Ukraine - yes,” Zatulin objected.

Solovyov recalled that Russia has occupied territories.

“We declared it our territory after it was not our territory,” the deputy replied.

“Wait a minute, what does the Constitution say? According to the Constitution, is this our territory?” - Solovyov retorted.

“Since we turned it on, yes. But this was in a military environment,” Zatulin said.

However, one of the interlocutors recalled that Siberia was also included in Russia “in the context of military operations.”

“Do we have an inscription somewhere that says this is not exactly our territory because it is included under these conditions? Understanding what is happening? Fine. If they enter Crimea, isn’t that a threat too? And we turned it on in 2014!” added the TV presenter.

Zatulin replied that Crimea “is a different story.”

“Okay, they will enter Belgorod, Kursk, still don’t touch nuclear weapons?” asked Solovyov.

"Especially. But I hope that in any attempt to do this, we will have the opportunity to resist them without the use of nuclear weapons,” the deputy replied.

“Okay, but if hope died last, then can we use strategic weapons or tactical ones? So they also hope that we won’t do it every time. Therefore, they will throw Polish mercenaries there, as they do now, American mercenaries, all the Nazi rabble from all over the world,” Solovyov concluded.
