Solovyov proposed supplying armored KAMAZ trucks to the front
If the situation in the SVO zone forces fighters to convert pickup trucks into armored vehicles, then why not help the front with armored trucks, while simultaneously stimulating Russian business and the auto industry.
TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A view from the outside – about industry. We have a truck production facility, one of the best in the world – KAMAZ trucks, that’s all. What’s stopping you from covering them with armor and sending them to the front in the quantities needed? To the maximum. Yes, these are not those armored vehicles. But now I see how many young guys are converting our pickup trucks and turning them into armored vehicles.
This is not a question at all! This needs to be done now. There will be business for our metallurgy, there will be business for our automobile industry. That is, now everything that can be used for the front, for victory, must be used for the front, for victory,” Solovyov said.
Publicist Sergei Kurginyan supported the TV presenter, but recalled that the situation with heavy armored vehicles at the front is also not cloudless.
“We sold 2000 T-90 tanks, great, sales abroad, everything is fine. How many of these tanks do we have in the army and how many are in the theater of operations? Of course, these trucks can and should be converted, I’m all for it. But how many tanks are the last in the army, in the theater of operations, and how many of them have been sold? 1100 to India, 500 to Algeria and so on, more than 2000. Okay, great, in a normal situation we trade weapons, but now what kind of defense order, how many of these tanks will be supplied to the troops along with armored trucks and everything else?” – Kurginyan wondered.
