Smart Ukrainian children used jump ropes to help the police apprehend a fugitive.
In the city of Berezan, Kyiv region, with the help of jump ropes and belts, local children detained a criminal who had escaped from a colony and was on the wanted list.

“The 24-year-old criminal escaped three weeks ago from the Krivoy Rog correctional colony, where he was serving a sentence for robbery, and immediately continued his path along the criminal path in the Kyiv region. In the city of Berezan, he, threatening with a knife, attacked a saleswoman of a local store, severely beat her, tied her up, and stole 7 thousand UAH and food,” the report says.
“It was possible to detain the daring attacker in hot pursuit, who was also wanted, thanks to the vigilant and brave local residents. Smart children began to follow the stranger who appeared in their yard on the morning of September 15 and behaved suspiciously. When the children saw that a man came out of a grocery store, locked it and headed towards the forest with bags, they immediately called the older children for help. Armed with sports equipment - a jump rope and belts, they caught up, independently detained and held the attacker until the police arrived,” says Dmitry Tsenov, chief of police of the Kyiv region.
Police officers immediately arrived at the scene and detained the suspect in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
“During the investigative operations, the police established that at 18.30 the criminal entered the store and hit the saleswoman on the head. When the 59-year-old woman fell to the floor and began to call for help, he put a knife to her throat and ordered her to remain silent. He locked the door and dragged the poor woman into the utility room, where he taped her mouth and tied her arms and legs with duct tape. In the meantime, he began to manage things - he took the pensioner’s personal funds, proceeds from the cash register and safe, mobile phones, food and other household items. Then he put on the victim’s jacket, left the store, locked it and tried to run away,” the press service added.
Law enforcement officers seized all material evidence of this crime from the attacker. The seller is currently undergoing hospital treatment at the Berezansky hospital.
