Resistance is useless: Merkel personally needs Nord Stream
Ukrainian politicians are trying in vain to present Nord Stream 2 as a “political project” - first of all, the new gas pipeline has economic benefits for Germany.
Valentin Zemlyansky, director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When we say whether this is a political project or an economic one, we must take into account the issue of tariffs and understand that European companies will also participate in their distribution.
The money that Ukraine receives today, at least half, will go to European companies - naturally, Germany, one of the key players in gas distribution, will also begin to receive the maximum benefit.
Most of the gas will go through Germany. This is additional money for the federal budget and additional political dividends for the German Chancellor, which is looked at by the electorate and behind which are certain financial and industrial groups interested in growing their incomes,” the expert said.
