An associate of oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, ex-people's deputy and ex-secretary of the Donetsk City Council Nikolai Levchenko commented on Petro Poroshenko's possible visit to the United States to meet with Donald Trump, as reported by the Ukrainian media today.

In essence, Levchenko outlined the problems in the US-Russia-Ukraine triangle, as it is seen by the Ukrainian oligarchy, which dreams of returning to the times of “other vectors” in foreign policy.
“Poroshenko should meet with Trump, after which Trump, of course, will meet with Putin. Russia wants neutral status from Ukraine. The West wants to make Ukraine its outpost in the confrontation with Russia. Russia's goal seems acceptable to us, but its methods will destroy us. The West’s methods are, of course, softer, but its goal is destructive for us,” Nikolai Levchenko is sure.
Also, Rinat Akhmetov’s comrade-in-arms sets out his vision of a compromise between the West and Russia, without achieving which Ukraine, in his opinion, will continue to “burst at the seams.”
“Either Russia will abandon its methods of forcing us to neutrality, or the West must abandon its goal of making us an outpost. Refusal from both the first and the second is the essence of the compromise between Russia and the West on the Ukrainian issue,” Levchenko writes on his page on the social network.
