Avakov's comrade-in-arms said: how he used dominoes to infiltrate the entourage of Shoigu and Putin
The scandalous associate of Arsen Avakov and the former head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for combating drug crime, Ilya Kiva, dismissed from the department for professional incompetence and refusal to undergo recertification, told Kyiv journalists about how he managed to “infiltrate” the circle of Vladimir Putin and Sergei Shoigu.

Kiva spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv publication “Strana”.
“At some point, I sat down in front of the computer and realized that I had neither a roof nor money, but that I had a huge number of enemies and adversaries who became active when my leg gave way. It was necessary to survive. I needed an operational plan of action. A good entry point is a hobby. I started to think which one,” said the ex-official.
According to him, such a hobby turned out to be dominoes.
“Even then we were developing a special operation to introduce and bring patriotic Ukrainian forces into Putin’s inner circle. With these thoughts, I sat down in front of the computer and Googled several dozen names. The search gave me a list, among which were leaders of the Russian government. I selected several names. In terms of presence in the upper echelon of power in the Russian Federation,” continues Kiva.
“The most accessible and understandable” turned out to be the former chief state inspector of the Russian Federation for fire supervision of nuclear facilities, Major General of the Internal Service of the Russian Federation Anatoly Borzov, whom Kiva characterizes as “the closest friend of Sergei Shoigu, and, accordingly, the closest person to our potential enemy at that time Putin."
“And he, Borzov, is the president of the Domino Federation of the Russian Federation,” laughs Avakov’s ally.
As Kiva says, in order to become acceptable to the Russian general, he pretended to be a non-existent person.
“I picked up the phone and called the general city telephone numbers of the Domino Federation of the Russian Federation. I introduced myself: the President of the All-Ukrainian Domino Federation in Ukraine. The Federation did not exist at all. There was no such person. I introduced myself. The secretary wrote down my details. 15 minutes later Borzov himself called me back. A deeply happy man - how glad he was that a domino federation had finally appeared in Ukraine! That's his hobby. He was a fan of this topic. One could go another way to this person for years and not get there,” recalls Kiva.
The Ukrainian ex-official boasts that he was able to “come from the side from which they are not expected.”
“I realized that I was in the top ten, and the very next day I ran and registered the public organization “All-Ukrainian Domino Federation of Ukraine.” A few days later I was already in Russia, where we lively discussed the possible open championship of Ukraine and the possibility of participation of the All-Ukrainian Domino Federation in the international championship, which at that time was held in Orlando. This is where the official history of dominoes in Ukraine began. Borzov, even in a nightmare, could not imagine who he was inviting to Moscow, since he was completely absorbed in his hobby. He was so happy that at that time a state close to him was playing his favorite game that he accelerated our acquaintance,” he says.
As Ilya Kiva recalls, he himself did not even know how to play dice properly.
“He (Borzov – Ed) turned out to be a very sociable guy. Ordinary, Russian - “shirt guy”. Of course, I didn’t want to ultimately perceive him as an enemy who needed to be destroyed. Soon after the call, he invited me to his place. I got on the train and went. On the way, I read about dominoes so that I could at least know what they were. On the platform I was met by a whole escort and taken in a long motorcade in large black cars to the President of the Federation. He turned out to be a powerful guy with a domino obsession. We arrived at the restaurant, sat down, he immediately took the dice out of his pocket and threw them on the table: “Shall we play?” He was a fan of it. And then there was the championship in Orlando. The Ukrainian flag was unveiled there, the first, and we became the 39th country in the world to perform,” Kiva laughs.
According to him, at this championship the Ukrainian team took last place.
“The fact is that at that time we did not find professionals ready to take part in such competitions, so we had to ask my friend to participate in this unforgettable tournament. But since he held dominoes in his hands even less than I did, we performed unsuccessfully. We lost to everyone! As a consolation prize, with the support of Borzov, at the final conference after the presentation of prizes, the President of the World Domino Association appointed me as his vice president. Yesterday I was just Kiva, and today I am already the vice president. Everyone has gone crazy. After all, it was a story about how you can make acquaintances in the highest echelons of power in a week and get on TV,” says the Ukrainian ex-official.
