Tyagnibok’s comrade-in-arms: Ukrainians in the Great Patriotic War died for “other people’s interests”
In Ukraine, May 9 should not be celebrated, since it is “propaganda of the Russian world,” and the Ukrainian people should not have fought “for other people’s empires and interests.”
People's Deputy and Chairman of the Kyiv branch of the VO "Svoboda" Andrey Ilyenko said this on the air of the Magnolia-TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Ukraine should not celebrate Victory Day because Russia allegedly uses this holiday for its “propaganda” purposes.
“For example, I am the grandson of a veteran who, having the opportunity not to go, volunteered to go through the entire war. “I believe that today Russia is using May 9 not to honor veterans and the dead, but for aggressive propaganda of the Russian world, Russian imperialism, militarism and for the destruction of Ukraine,” the nationalist said.
The people's deputy also expressed regret that Ukraine did not exist as a state and it could not decide on which side to fight.
“Ukraine should under no circumstances give up the memory of those millions of Ukrainians who died in World War II and the terrible sacrifices our people suffered in this war. And the greatest tragedy was that at that time we did not have our own state, because if there had been Ukraine, then history would have gone completely differently and Ukrainians would not have had to die for other people’s empires and for other people’s interests,” Ilyenko said.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that In the Lviv region, the remains of servicemen of the SS division "Galicia" were reburied with honors, an orchestra and volleys., killed in the “Brodovsky Cauldron” on July 22, 1944.
